rape, violence and crimes against women and children

I do not really ponder for so long when I look back and carry out a mental count of how much destruction and harm we have done to ourselves, all in the name of civilization. I watched on a satellite channel, crime and investigation how a kid by name shenoza, was brutally raped and murdered by a man in the presence of his girlfriend. He made a sexist remark and showed no remorse for his actions.
The man and his girlfriend were under the influence of alcohol and hard drugs. The authorities were not firm enough, to have averted the young girl's death because, the culprits had previous bad records with the law and were not put on red alert. The lady was a street junkie convicted on three occasisons and the man, a notorious criminal.
The crux of the matter is that the culprits and the victims are all blacks. I am black but appalled by the barbaric nature, the young kid was raped and murdered. The cops found her lifeles body in a trash can. How sad and unfortunate. Why do we turn a blind eye and allow those we truly love and care about killed in such a horrific manner.
Apart from being a black man, I am proudly african. We have a rich culture that thrives on hardwork, merit and respect. We are brought up to respect the sanctity of human lives. Groomed to embrace good values and charisma.
The madness that gets in our heads is alien, but we are too weak to expunge it. The madness comes in different forms such as rape, drug usage, alcoholism, prostitution, organized crime and violence.
I wonder why society sits down and watch the decay amongst our youths. I have tears in my eyes all the time, and wonder when the gradually fading hope would resurface. Are we going to rise again? Are we going to respect and command a life of decency and praises?
I am not here to make the scenerio look extremely hopeless but to sensitize our people that we have a civic role to play in redeeming ourselves morally, intellectually and socially as a race.
I would recommend an exchange program between africans and african americans by way of a joint socio cultural commission that would act as a catalyst to identifying, the positive areas that would stem collaborative parnership in areas bothering on social reforms and rehabilitation.
I have a dream that one day we would not see rape, violence against women, children and moral decadence as the vogue in our society. We have a role to play in ensuring that we leave a legacy for our generation and the generaion to come that we are sane and passionate people that have moral and ethical values.
The road map is in the offing. The mentality is being galvanized. The results shall come to the fore some day.

THE STRENGTH AND PASSION OF AFRICANS AND AFRICAN AMERICANS

I watched the swearing in ceremony of Barak Obama the American president and said to myself,” This must be the man even the unborn child relishes to meet”. The realization of having a black president in the most politically influential country in the world gives credence to the fact that leadership could come from anywhere. How well have we been able to identify and harness the immense potentials that we have inherent in ourselves is another question entirely.
The strength of the African is drawn from his rich cultural heritage which is deep rooted in the belief that the age grade system is honorable and must be respected. The African American prides himself in hard work and commitment to duty. However, this position could be debated across board. The passion for these people in centered on diligence, service, resourcefulness and tenacity. Indeed we have produced an Obama, do we rest on our oars and delight ourselves in this major achievement globally?
The strength and passion that lies within us should be gingered to set up another record that must be broken. The time to exhibit relevance is now. The time to say no to violence especially stemming from gangster clashes is now. The time to liberate poverty -stricken Africans from the claws of dictatorship, greed and hopeless leadership is now. We need to partner to assist each other in areas of governance, social networking, commerce and industry, tourism and trade.
Talking about trade, I think we could have a neo black trade pact. We could match up our common business affiliations and come up with a super brand. I do not want to believe I am the only one sounding this optimistic. What about you? We need all hands to be on deck, to promote and sustain the vision of progressive partnership, resource and unflinching solidarity.

WHO REALLY ARE WE?THE BOSSES OR VASSALS

Why does it hurt so bad? I look around and wonder why I cannot point out the basis for the
continuous struggle and degradation that have befallen the African and African American folks. Please wait a minute, did I mention that I am ignorant of these reasons? Maybe not really.
I have come to realize that all the issues that bedevil the African and African American are stereotype.

When can we really tell ourselves that, "Yes we can",GO HERE. I wished I could turn back the hands of time and rewrite the wrongs. Maybe Latasha Harlins (May her soul rest in peace) would have marked her 34th birthday just like I did in April.
I am not here to apportion blame neither am I advocating for a special course for the Africans and African Americans.
I am calling for gainful and result oriented partnership that would re -engineer and reposition us in the new dispensation socially, culturally, intellectually, morally and mentally.
We are indeed a breed of people that have been conditioned to function and perform excellently well to the admiration of others, We are indeed a people with immense potentials, dogged, result - oriented with an avid passion for excellence.
These are noble qualities to behold but regrettably we have not been able to harness the potentials involved therein.GO HERE
We have the face of determination, strong willed and self propelled. Ironically, could we be said to be people that command recognition and respect, are we trailing behind in every other aspect of life? GO HERE
So many questions and so many issues to address. We have a dream and that dream has to materialize now. We must pride in partnership for the collective good of our people. That time is now GO HERE. Welcoming you all to a forum that would endear us to our common heritage even in the diaspora. GO HERE
